Chicago, the windy city, is the home of the blues. As we emerge from the cacophony of the global pandemic, what better place to gather as a community and explore the many challenges facing the field of biomaterials research? This year’s program will focus on research that has direct patient impact and will expand the traditional definition of biomaterials to address challenges related to the development, manufacturing, and use of PPE. We hope to realize the vision for this meeting: Biomaterials Research: Hitting all the right notes, and avoiding the translational blues.
Plans and Contingency Plans…
At this time, we are planning to hold the meeting in Chicago in person in April 2021. In the event that pandemic-related travel restrictions persist, we will switch to a virtual meeting platform and will work to accommodate all accepted poster and oral presentations on that platform. We anticipate that virtual registration rates will be lower than in-person registration rates as food and beverage expenses will not be incurred. Any registration made at the in-person rate will be eligible for credit to the virtual rate should that come to pass.
From exploring the latest innovations in regenerative devices, 3D Printing, drug-eluting stents, osteointegration of implants to the examination of materials concerns in the development of PPE, and the issues around translating research to clinical practice, the SFB 2021 Annual Meeting promises to be a unique inspiring event.
