Regenerative Biomaterials and Therapeutics Group at Carnegie Mellon University. His research aims to address the demand for transplantable corneal tissue. To do this, Santiago combines stem cell techniques, in the form of corneal stroma stem cells, and biomaterials sciences to develop constructs of the posterior cornea and the cornea stroma.  Santiago is also passionate about science & technology policy, science communication, and equity, diversity, and inclusion. Santiago received his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Florida in 2016.
