Dr. Wei Sun is an appointed Albert Soffa Chair Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Drexel University, and Distinguished Professor and Director of Biomanufacturing and Medical Devices Frontier Innovation Engineering Research Center, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. Dr. Sun’s research has been focused on Biofabrication, 3D Bio-Printing, Computer-Aided Tissue Engineering, CAD/CAM, and Additive Manufacturing. Dr. Sun is the Founding President for International Society of Biofabrication (2010-2014), and the Founding Editor-in-Chief for international journal Biofabrication (2009-present). He is also the Founding Chair of Biomanufacturing Technical Committee for Division of Manufacturing Science and Engineering in American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME, 2006-2009), and the Founding Chair of the Biomaterials Advanced Manufacturing Professional Committee of the Chinese Biomaterials Society (2014-2019). Dr. Sun has published over 170+ SCI journal papers with 11,000+ SCI citations, 48 granted patents, and 350+ invited national and international presentations in the field of his research. Dr. Sun received Distinguished Visiting Fellow Award from the Royal Academy of Engineering in UK (2018), Visiting Professorship from Nanyang Technological University (2018-2020), the inaugural Senior Investigator Award from International Society of Biofabrication (2017), the MII / Fralin Visiting Scholar Award from Virginia Tech (2015), Outstanding Research Award, College of Engineering, Drexel University (2009), William Mong Fellow Award, the University of Hong Kong (2008) and Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award, International Society for Automotive Engineers (2003), the Most Cited Paper Award for IOP Publishing (2018) and Distinguished Paper Award for Emerald Publishing (2006 & 2001).
